April 12th Fishing Report By: Luke Routh

Hey yall Luke Routh here bringing you a quick report for Pomme de Terre Lake. Water temp ranges from 55 to 59 starting out in the morning, the dirtier the water the warmer it is.

Crappie: Most of the crappie are really making a push to the banks to spawn. Fish can be caught early and late on the pee gravel banks in 1 to 3 ft of water with a cork and jig. Mid day bite is a little slower might want to back out and jig trees in 4 to 12 ft of water. All color jigs seem to be working for me when you get around the fish. I’m normally throwing a baby shad in either blue ice or black n chartuse.

Largemouth Bass: The bass are still in their pre spawn stage and havent seen any signs of spawning going on yet. There is alot of moss around the lake making the jig bite slow. Best bites have been on spinnerbaits and crankbaits in the wind. Lots of fish hanging around the secondary points or the steeper banks in the creeks not much going down in the pockets yet. If you would like to fish out by the damn im sure there are still jerkbait fish to be caught. Bass are all over the place depth wise in the main lake 1 to 12ft deep and up the rivers i would say 1 to 7ft deep. I look for the moss to go away and the jig and texas rig bite to pick up soon with the moving baits staying good and even TOPWATER becoming a player soon.

White Bass: White bass are running up the river roostertails and crappie jigs will load the boat.
